We have talked about blogs and social networking before – all great ways to create links back to your web site. Which is an excellent way to help drive your web site up the search engines.
We had Shrove Tuesday earlier this week. It was lunch time and I thought I’d have a quick look at facebook to see what was happening. A friend and client of mine was on there and we started chatting - he said he was bored and wanted to start up a new facebook group.
Not long afterwards I noticed that he had indeed created a group called ‘pancakes and their fillings!’ Sounded fun so I joined, and I was asked to contribute to the wall on my favourite filling.
Later that evening at home I logged back onto facebook for a browse, I went back to the pancake group and was amazed there were nearly 60 members in just a few hours! It was a success! There were also a few different topics running too (‘When does a pancake become a crepe?’ and ‘Why does the first pancake never work?’).
Why was it a such a flippin success? Well because it was a very topical subject of the moment and members were asked for their opinion and so willingly engaged. Also my friend has a large network of friends and colleagues who he asked to join. It’s also a bit of fun and lighthearted entertainment on a Tuesday afternoon.
So when we see blogs and forums on related business topics it’s well worth getting involved, engaging and adding an opinion and also a link back to your web site. It puts you in peoples minds and creates an interest and can ultimately lead to sales and enquiries. I have seen this happen so many times!
